The very city I live in is Monterey Park, a city established on May 29, 1916. This city is among the nearest to Los Angeles only about 7 miles away. Monterey Park in between the Interstate 10 and Interstate 60 freeway. The city hall is towards the northern part of the city on West Newmark Avenue and South Ramona Avenue. The city is surrounded by East Los Angeles (to the south and west), Rosemead (to the east and north east) Montebello (to the south), South San Gabriel (to the East), and Alhambra (to the north and west). Yet, many high schools and Universities like Mark Keppel High School, and East Los Angeles College (ELAC), are around this city, making it easy for citizens to live here. Besides that, there are more that makes citizens' life in Monterey Park easier. So let's learn more about this magnificent city I live in!!

Monterey Park -- Cascades Park.
The city's most remarkable (beautiful) place is the Cascade Park, located on the El Portal Pl, near South Atlantic Blvd. The Cascade Park has a manmade waterfall, with a statue on the start of the waterfall. Across from the Cascade Park is the Greater Monterey Park Chamber of Commerce. At night the waterfall lights up, and the light moves along the fall, and changes color, too! The Cascade waterfall was made about a century ago, and some refurbishments were made so that the park still looks beautiful.

Barnes Park on July 4th 2017.
Barnes Park is a big park next to the city hall. It has a tennis court for 3 three different tennis games, a softball and grass area, a public amphitheater, a public swimming pool (where there are swimming lessons), a playground, and many trails for people to walk around the park. Beware: No riding bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, etc in the park, they are prohibited. Many big events that are hosted by the city are usually on Barnes Park, like Monterey Park Play Days, Cherry Blossom Festival, Monterey Park Swim Meet, and many more events are hosted in this park!

Shakeys
One restaurant to go to in Monterey Park is Shakey's, which is a pizza parlor. Around 7PM - 8PM the store is filled with people buying pizzas. Orders take around twenty to forty minutes depending how many customers are at the store. To the Left side of the parlor is an arcade where there are many games and that you can get to tickets to redeem prizes, and right of the restaurant is where most people eat their delicious pizzas. Some popular toppings they have are Pineapple, Bacon, Italian Sausage, and Chicken. One recommended food, besides the pizza, is the tasty Mojo that they fry. This restaurant is Number 1 pizza shop in the world! Shakeys is located on the southern part of Monterey Park on Atlantic BLVD.

Interior of the hotel.
One very remarkable hotel is the Lincoln Hotel, which is the largest in Monterey Park. Inside the hotel, there is a check-in area with clocks telling you the time from across the world. There are also some small shops, with an Avis Car Rental Department. There is an jewel light hanged on the ceiling, which decorates the hotel lobby even more. One exception of Lincoln Hotel is that the hotel is pretty old, the city hasn't renewed it yet, but it's nice and amazing hotel located on South Lincoln AVE!

Ralphs
There is two malls on Atlantic Boulevard in Monterey Park, the first one on the northern part of the city, has shops, stores, and even an AMC! Some shops and stores there includes, Daiso Japan, 24 Hour Fitness, Tasty Garden, Teletron, and many other amazing things there! The other one on the southern part of the city has many restaurants, including El Pollo Loco, Yogurtland, Ono Hawaiian, and some others including Daniel Jeweler's, Rite Aide, and Ralphs. These two malls will definitely supply you with what you will need (like food, relaxation, spa, some surplus of food, etc.).

Johnny Thompson Music

Music Lovers!! Go to Johnny Thompson Music!! A dedicated music person, Johnny Thompson, himself opened and runs the shop (he's 74 years old), and even attends local school performances!! This music shop includes instruments, strings, tuners, and even lessons for kids, and adults who have music in their hearts. Compared to Amazon,  Johnny Thompson's is more expensive, but higher quality, and lasts longer. Be sure to check out this awesome music store!!

One amazing fact is that Times.com has voted Monterey park the third best city to live in out of other cities in the United States!! URL:
