The Great American Solar Eclipse

On August 21, 2017 a solar eclipse happened in the US.

What is a solar eclipse? A solar eclipse happens when the moon blocks the sun, but happens only for a few minutes since the Earth, Moon and Sun move. How do you know that it is a solar eclipse? Since solar means sun, and that eclipse means when something blocks another thing, and so that means that the sun will be blocked by the moon, since moon is the only thing in space that could block the sun. There are three types of Solar Eclipse. The first is the Totality Eclipse, and that is when the moon blocks the sun whole, and the day sky turns to night sky, total darkness will appear. The second is the Annual Eclipse, which the moon seems a little too small and you can still see the sun light bordering around the moon. The third is the Partial Eclipse, which is when the moon only blocks a part of the sun, and that many sunlight still passes through.

Why is it called the Great American Eclipse? This is the first solar eclipse that will only be visible in the United States of America, since the country established in 1776. A full solar eclipse was also full solar eclipse in United States on June 8th 1918, but was also visible to other countries too. The eclipse will go from Oregon to South Carolina. If you live in Southern California, like I do, then you will see a partial eclipse, which is still awesome, since you can still see the moon blocking the sun a little. If you are in the city Carbondale, Illinois, then you'll be able to see the total solar eclipse longer than in other places that will be able to see the eclipse.

Warning!! Never look into the sun with your naked eyes!! They will burn and harm your eyes!!

Hope you have fun watching this eclipse!!

By the way...

I made a pinhole viewer from a Pringles Chip Can that would enable me to see the solar eclipse safely. I call this Pinhole Viewer "The Solar Eye", since it allows me to see the eclipse very clearly as if looking through a solar eclipse glasses.

How did you view the solar eclipse safely?

The "(The) Solar Eye". See the little light, there, that is the eclipse.  (To view it bigger, click on the picture.)
